Lockheed Martin will provide Naval Vigilance Radar software to the U.K. defense ministry under a $62.9 million contract.
The company said Thursday it has collaborated with Kelvin Hughes to produce the navigation software, which includes a collision avoidance system and a common maritime data processing environment.
Peter Ruddock, chief executive of Lockheed Martin UK, said the Naval Vigilance Radar works to enable navigation radar capability.
The sensor-based technology will be incorporated to more than 60 U.K. naval ships, submarines and shore facilities.
Lockheed noted that the contract will help sustain 14 jobs and generate five additional positions at its Havant facility in the U.K.
The company will perform work with routine maintenance over the next five years.
