The Energy Department has issued the first request for proposals on the office of technology transition’s Technology Commercialization Fund, which seeks to support the transfer of energy-related technologies to the commercial market.
DOE said Friday the $20 million funding opportunity aims to facilitate the commercialization of technologies developed as part of federally funded research projects at the 17 national laboratories.
“Every day our national labs are developing innovative new technologies that have the potential to revolutionize the way we generate, store and transmit energy,” said OTT Director Jetta Wong.
“But in order to accelerate the use of clean energy technologies, we need to get more of these breakthroughs out of our labs and into our marketplace.”
DOE noted that it will use TCF funds to match half of the funds that private sector partners will provide.
