DigitalGlobe has introduced a set of geospatial data and satellite imagery services designed to help security agencies and international governments improve the safety of athletes and audience for this year’s Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Jaineiro, Brazil.
The Rio de Janeiro Summer Olympic Security Package includes the Basemap+Daily subscription service, Human Landscape database and Vricon‘s digital service model, DigitalGlobe said Thursday.
“Global event security requires rapid access to current, accurate, and complete geospatial information for enhanced contingency planning, risk management, and emergency response,†said Daniel Jablonsky, general counsel and general manager for international defense and intelligence at DigitalGlobe.
BaseMap+Daily works to provide users cloud-based access to satellite images of the city, while the Human Landscape database is designed to offer information on the local environment’s demography and transportation infrastructure.
The DigitalGlobe-Saab joint venture-built Vricon DSM works to provide users 3D satellite images of a specific location for use in pre-event planning operations.
