Raytheon and the ISC Foundation have partnered to facilitate a program meant to help increase female college students’ interest in information technology security.
ISC and Raytheon plan to award up to $90,000 in scholarships and paid internships over a three-year period through the company’s Women’s Cybersecurity Scholarship program, Raytheon said Thursday.
“Not only is there a deep cybersecurity talent gap that threatens our national security, there is also a distinct gender gap between men and women when it comes to cyber career exposure and awareness,” said David Wajsgras, Raytheon president of intelligence, information and services and an inductee into Executive Mosaic‘s Wash100 for 2016.
Raytheon will choose two female scholars each year and offer them a paid summer internship at the cybersecurity and special mission area of the company’s IIS organization.
ISC will offer a certification exam voucher for each scholar as well as sponsor their first year of ISC membership if they earn a certificate.
“With this partnership, the foundation and Raytheon can actively support women who are focusing their studies on information security and give them the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience,” said Patrick Craven, director of the ISC Foundation.
