Beechcraft Defense Company has been selected to manufacture military training aircraft for the U.K. defense ministry under a contract with Affinity Flying Training Services.
The Textron subsidiary will produce 10 Beechcraft T-6C Texan II aircraft to replace the Shorts Tucano T1 aircraft under the U.K. MoD’s military flying training system program, Textron said Wednesday.
The aircraft is scheduled for delivery in the first quarter of 2018.
Russ Bartlett of Beechcraft Defense Company said the company intends for the aircraft to help fulfill the existing and potential training needs of the customer.
The company will also work to maintain the aircraft and deploy on-site field service representatives to provide technical insights to maintenance personnel for five years.
Affinity is a joint venture between Elbit Systems and KBR, the contractor for aircraft and maintenance services under the military flying training system program.
