cybersecurityMinnesota-based Adventium Enterprises will work to upgrade the security of medical devices under a $2.2 million contract as part of the Department of Homeland Security science and technology directorate’s Intrinsically Secure, Open, and Safe Control of Essential LayErS project.

DHS said Tuesday the project aims to protect medical devices from cyber threats.

“Many medical devices are networked into hospital or other healthcare systems… this means they may have security vulnerabilities,” said Reginald Brothers, undersecretary of DHS for science and technology.

Adventium Enterprises will work to produce a cyber-physical architecture that has safety and security monitoring functions in support of DHS S&T cybersecurity division’s larger Cyber Physical Systems Security program.

The company’s security technology will be part of the exhibit at the 2016 Cyber Security Division R&D Showcase and Technical Workshop from February 17 to 19.
