Chief of Naval Operations Adm. John Richardson and Rep. Scott Peters (D-Calif.) on Thursday visited Huntington Ingalls Industries‘ ship maintenance and repair facility in San Diego.
The company said Friday Richardson and Peters met with ship repair professionals at HII unit Continental Maritime of San Diego and crew members from the USS Kidd destroyer during their CMSD facility tour.
The USS Kidd vessel is built by HII’s Ingalls Shipbuilding division and currently undergoing maintenance at the San Diego facility.
“The maintenance and repair done here in San Diego ensures our ships are mission-ready to carry out the nation’s business around the globe,” said Richardson, an inductee into Executive Mosaic‘s Wash100 for 2016.
Richardson has toured multiple U.S. shipyards since he took the CNO role in September last year.
