Unisys has completed work to help migrate the Interior Department‘s Financial and Business Management System to a cloud computing environment as part of a $44 million task order awarded under the Foundation Cloud Hosting Services contract.

The company said Tuesday it provided infrastructure-as-a-service technology that includes partner Virtustream‘s SAP in the Cloud hosting services to support the migration.
Unisys awarded Virtustream a subcontract in 2013 to provide an enterprise cloud computing platform to host FBMS.
“The [department’s] migration of its financial management system to the cloud marks a milestone in the U.S. federal government’s push to harness the benefits of cloud computing,” added Casey Coleman, group vice president of Unisys’ federal civilian agencies business.
FBMS is a financial management application built on SAP‘s enterprise resource planning software.
DOI became the first federal agency to move a SAP-based financial management application to the cloud through this migration, Unisys said.
