inmarsat-logoInmarsat has opened a new regional office in Singapore as the company aims to help address a growing demand for mobile satellite communication services in the Asia Pacific market.

The 19,500-square-foot office is located at Toa Payoh and includes a solutions laboratory, demonstration and training rooms, knowledge and support centers and a production facility, Inmarsat said Wednesday.

“With the start of global commercial services for our latest satellite fleet, Global Xpress, at the end of last year, we expect to see demand increase still further,” noted Rupert Pearce, CEO of Inmarsat.

Inmarsat offers Global Xpress to government, aviation, maritime and enterprise customers.

Pearce added the company has invested money for construction of two Inmarsat-6 satellites that will be designed to operate in Ka-band and L-band frequencies.

Inmarsat has also partnered with Singapore-based telecommunications firm SingTel to jointly offer Inmarsat’s L-TAC tactical beyond line-of-sight communications service in the APAC public sector.
