cyber, computerISACA has polled 2,920 information technology professionals across 121 countries in order to determine their top security concerns, views on government-industry threat information exchange and IT talent recruitment efforts at their organizations.

The trade group said Monday IT professionals have ranked social engineering, insider and advanced persistent threats as their organizations’ most pressing concerns for 2016.

Sixty-three percent of respondents oppose to the idea of governments having backdoor access to private data systems and 83 percent said they are in favor of data breach notification policies for businesses, ISACA noted.

Nearly 72 percent of U.S.-based professionals who responded to the survey support implementation of Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act of 2015, which Congress has passed in an effort to encourage agencies and companies to exchange threat intelligence.

ISACA President Christos Dimitriadis said the report shows that “professionals on the front lines of the cyberthreat battle recognize the value of information sharing among consumers, businesses and government, but also know the challenges associated with doing so.”

The organization noted that 45 percent of survey participants worldwide launched programs to hire people who possess cybersecurity skills.

ISACA, which comprises 140,000 information technology industry representatives globally, has created the COBIT enterprise IT governance framework and the Cybersecurity Nexus certification program.
