Eric Gillespie, founder and CEO of Govini, has cited recent consolidations and acquisitions that made an impact on the federal services contracting market in 2015.
Gillespie wrote in an article published Tuesday on GovExec that the formation of CSRA through the merger of Computer Sciences Corp.’s U.S. public sector business with SRA International resulted in the creation of a “pure-play information technology and services provider.”
The transaction also has allowed CSRA to balance its portfolio with new contract vehicles and health-focused government agencies, he added.
He also mentioned CACI International’s move to purchase L-3 Communications’ government services arm as another prominent transaction in the govcon services market.
CACI acquired L-3 National Security Solutions for $550 million in December 2015 in an effort to expand its footprint in the enterprise information technology and intelligence community markets.
“[Already] razor-thin services margins will be shaved again in 2016,” Gillespie said.
