Xyratex ClusterStorSeagate Technology has been selected to provide data storage and management technology for a French technology research agency to manage its high-performance computing activities.

The French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission chose the ClusterStor L300 platform designed to store up to six petabytes of data and transfer files at a speed of more than 200 gigabytes per second, Seagate said Thursday.

The commission focuses on research and development of defense, security, nuclear energy and physical and life sciences technologies.

Seagate will deliver its technology in support of the agency’s GS1K supercomputer data storage implementation effort, under which the agency will also collaborate with France-based information technology services company Atos.

California-based Seagate also works with U.S. federal government clients to help them adopt technologies designed to store volumes of data and secure workflows through the Seagate Government Solutions business, led by President Deb Oliver.
