Telephonics has been awarded a $13.5 million contract to provide mobile surveillance vehicles for Customs and Border Protection agents on the U.S and Mexican border.
The Mobile Surveillance Capability vehicles work to detect, track and identify targets as part of the CBP agents’ intelligence gathering operations, Telephonics said Tuesday.
“Monitoring and protecting the U.S. border is critical to our national security and Telephonics is extremely pleased that CBP has chosen our surveillance vehicle to assist with this important responsibility,” said Joseph Battaglia, president and CEO of Telephonics.
Battaglia added that the vehicles feature sensors and a decision-making tool that work to help CBP agents “detect, classify, track and ultimately apprehend lawbreakers at our borders.”
Also called the Radar and Video Enforcement Network-Mobile, the vehicles are configured to operate in various terrains and environments to collect data from perimeter incidents.
