ITAT&T has partnered with seven other technology companies to produce a smart-city development framework intended to help local government organizations to harness  Internet of Things platforms for management of their cities.

Cisco, Deloitte, General Electric, IBM, Intel, Ericsson and Qualcomm Technologies have agreed to support AT&T’s strategy to help create more connected  communities, AT&T said Tuesday.

AT&T covered infrastructure, citizen engagement, transportation and public safety in its smart cities framework and plans to initially roll out the framework in Atlanta, Georgia, Chicago and Dallas.

The telecommunications firm also developed a digital dashboard for city managers to monitor the performance of public systems in real time.

AT&T added it supports the Envision America initiative with the intent to address water, air, waste and energy challenges across the U.S. and produced a publication to help businesses manage funds, revenue, efficiency and customer service with IoT applications.
