rocket launchOrbital ATK has received a contract from United Launch Alliance to produce large composite structures for installation onboard ULA-built Delta IV and Atlas V rockets.

Orbital ATK said Thursday its contract with the Boeing–Lockheed Martin joint venture was awarded in support of the U.S. Air Force’s Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicles initiative.

“Our support of ULA EELV missions is a critical element of our aerospace structures business,” said Steve Earl, vice president and general manager of aerospace structures division at Orbital ATK.

Work will occur at Orbital ATK’s manufacturing facility in Iuka, Mississippi, and covers the production of payload adapters, engine thermal system-related structures, nose cones, diaphragms, fairings and interstages.

Orbital ATK said it will perform deliveries from 2016 through 2019 and that composite hardware support for both launch vehicles under the contract will continue through 2021.
