The U.K. national crime agency used a Serco-built cyber platform for a one-week exercise intended to train and test the participants’ capability to detect and respond to cyber attacks.
Serco’s cybX works to simulate cyber network vulnerabilities in an effort to assess an organization’s response and management strategy in the event of a cyber attack, Serco said Friday.
NCA carried out the Silver Shadow cyber exercise at the U.K. cabinet office’s Emergency Planning College in North Yorkshire, England, on Nov. 30.
The FBI, U.K.’s national cyber crime unit and law enforcement officers from Georgia, Ukraine, Lithuania, Romania, Bulgaria and Moldova participated in NCA’s cyber exercise, which assessed the participants’ responses to a simulated cyber incident in a fictitious petroleum firm.
“It’s one thing to invest in the best technology, but organizations must also invest in developing their people and test their capabilities,” said Richard Preece, cybX director at Serco.
