cyberwarfareSeveral government organizations look to increase their partnerships with security companies to guard agency data from cyber threats, Onvia market analyst Lyndon Dacuan wrote in a blog article published Wednesday.

Dacuan cited a 2014 study by the National Association of State Chief Information Officers that indicated six in 10 chief information security officers at state and local agencies saw cybersecurity as their primary concern.

A public transportation agency in Birmingham, Alabama has partnered with vendors and civic hackers to evaluate security parameters in its system as well as identify vulnerabilities, Dacuan reports.

He said the Birmingham-Jefferson Transit Authority released a solicitation for the development of a web-based cyber defense system and the Texas-based Capital Area Council of Governments asked for industry help to test the resiliency of the council’s information systems.
