investment money exchangeThe Intelligence Community’s venture capital arm In-Q-Tel has invested in digital forensics software developer Magnet Forensics and established a strategic partnership that seeks to support national security and law enforcement agencies.

“Our strategic partnership with IQT and, in turn, the U.S. Intelligence Community will help us better understand the evolving nature of crime and the digital evidence associated with it,” Jad Saliba, founder and chief technology officer of Magnet Forensics, said in a statement released Tuesday.

The company’s Internet Evidence Finder product works to recover unstructured digital evidence such as data from social media and email, then structure them for forensic analysis.

According to Magnet Forensics, nearly 3,000 public safety organizations worldwide use IEF to support investigations on cyber crime, insider threats, terrorism and child exploitation.
