Dell has received a certification from the Defense Department that allows it to deploy its SonicWall series of firewalls across DoD-operated computer networks.
Dell said Wednesday its firewall platform received the department’s Unified Capabilities Approved Products List certification after it passed the Security Technical Implementation Guide tests that seek to ensure the secure maintenance and installation of hardware and software.
The SonicWall firewall works to protect networks from malware, filter URLs and content, as well as perform application control and intrusion prevention functions.
Patrick Sweeney, vice president of product marketing and management at Dell Security, said Dell’s firewall offering will work to safeguard DoD agencies’ data infrastructures from potential cyber attacks.
