DigitalGlobe has selected Raytheon‘s Constellation Scheduling System to provide mission planning and launch support for DigitalGlobe’s WorldView-4 commercial satellite in September 2016.
Raytheon said Thursday CSS is a commercial geospatial system that works to provide automatic scheduling and mission planning support for satellite operators and geospatial data providers.
DigitalGlobe announced last year its plans to expedite the launch of WorldView-4 in mid-2016 after the company received approval from the Commerce Department to provide customers with Earth imagery with a resolution at up to 30 centimeters.
WorldView-4 will be the fifth satellite to receive scheduling and mission planning support from Raytheon through CSS, the defense contractor said.
Range Generation Next will provide space launch range services for the WorldView-4 satellite that is scheduled to take off from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California in September 2016.
RGNext is a joint venture of Raytheon and General Dynamics’ information technology business that runs the U.S. Air Force’s launch ranges at Vandenberg base and Patrick Air Force Base in Florida.
