The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency will hold a Proposers Day on Dec. 17 to brief interested contractors on the Modular Optical Aperture Building Blocks program.
DARPA’s MOABB program is a potential five-year, $58 million initiative that seeks to develop miniature, planar light detection and ranging systems that work to transmit, receive and amplify free-space optical radiation over a wide angle, the agency said Friday.
The Proposers Day will discuss the types of contracting instruments through meetings with the agency’s contracting office, feature presentations by government staff and promote partnerships among potential contractors with relevant knowledge on the program, according to a special notice posted on FedBizOpps.
MOABB’s first phase will focus on the use of semiconductor-based production processes to develop small light-detecting and light-emitting cells, while the two succeeding phases will deal with the incorporation of such cells into 1-square-centimeter- and 10-square-centimeter arrays.
Registration for the event is open until Dec. 14, according to the notice.
