The Department of Homeland Security has awarded CenturyLink a contract to extend Einstein 3 Accelerated intrusion detection system-related services to other federal agencies that lack access to such support through their current Internet service providers.
CenturyLink said Monday the award covers email filtering, domain name system protection and signature-based intrusion prevention services.
DHS’ Einstein 3 Accelerated system works to detect malicious activity and intrusions in government agencies’ information technology networks through the analysis of patterns in network traffic.
“CenturyLink’s E3A service was the first to achieve initial operating capability from DHS and the first fully operational E3A system to begin actively providing cybersecurity services to federal civilian agencies’ end-users,” said Tim Meehan, senior vice president and general manager of CenturyLink’s federal business.
The company received a contract to offer Einstein system-related services to government clients in 2013.
