Brazil Taps BAE for $82M Assault Amphibious Vehicle Production, Upgrade Contract

BAE Systems will produce and supplyÂ 23 AAV7A1 Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability/Rebuild to Standard assault amphibious vehicles to Brazilâ€™s marine corpsÂ through a potential $82 million contract.

The contract also covers test equipment and tools for maintenance, field service support, spare parts and training support for users of the AAV7A1 RAM/RS vehicles, BAE Systems said Monday.

The AAV7A1 RAM/RS works to transport military personnel and their equipment from ships through hostile territoriesÂ and has an updated suspension system, drive train and engine.

BAE said it expects contract work to begin June 2016 at its facility in Pennsylvania and plansÂ to start vehicle deliveries by February 2017.
