Boeing has handed the latest Mk6 Chinook helicopter to the U.K. air force under a recent order from the U.K. defense ministry.
The 14th helicopter delivered to the Royal Air Force brings the total number of RAF Chinook aircraft to 60, Boeing said Monday.
The Mk6 Chinook aircraft has interoperable navigation and communication tools, rescue hoist components, RAF-specific avionics and a monolithic airframe.
Steve Parker, vice president of cargo helicopters and H-47 Chinook program manager at Boeing, said the new aircraft will work to help the U.K. air force perform its current and future military missions.
The RAF uses the helicopters to carry out medical evacuation, aerial assault and troop transport operations.
