South Korea has placed an order for UGM-84L Harpoon Block II missiles, related equipment and support from the U.S. government through a potential $110 million foreign military sales contract approved by the State Department.
The Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Wednesday the sale includes 19 Harpoon Block II missiles, 13 Block II upgrade kits, spares for guidance control units, repair parts, containers and tool sets.
Boeing has been tapped to serve as the principal contractor for the deal.
South Korea will use the missiles and related support for efforts to build up its anti-surface warfare capability, weapon inventories and interoperability with allied forces.
The deal also includes support equipment, publication, logistics, technical data, training resources and engineering support services.
DSCA said it notified Congress of the potential sale Tuesday.
