Raytheon will move to design work on a new airborne electronic attack system after the company and U.S. Navy completed the jammer program’s design review phase.
The Navy intends for the jammer system to replace the ALQ-99 jamming pods on board the EA-18G Growler from 2021 onward, Raytheon said Friday.
Daniel Theisen, director of airborne electronic attack programs at Raytheon, said the jammer’s open architecture and solid-state electronics are designed to help fulfill the Navy’s electronic warfare mission requirements.
