Fluor has won an award from Highways England for the company’s safe management of a project to build communications infrastructure across England’s network of trunk roads and motorways.
The company said Wednesday it recorded 3 million safe working hours under the National Roads Telecommunications Services project in England.
David Brewer, a director at Highways England, presented the organization’s Significant Achievement Award for Safety to Simon Morris, a Fluor project director, and Highways England NRTS contract manager Kevin Hamer during a ceremony.
“This award recognizes the commitment to safety by all team members and our client,” said Hans Dekker, president of Fluor’s infrastructure business.
Fluor led a team comprising of Alcatel-Lucent and Imtech to provide design, construction, program management, financing, operations, maintenance services for the program.
The consortium also helped Highways England implement smart technology designed to manage road safety and send information to commuters.
