Galois has received a $1.86 million grant from the National Institute of Standards and Technology‘s National Strategy for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace to provide a data storage system with privacy and Internet of Things functions.
Tozny, the authentication and mobile security subsidiary of Galois, said it will be the technical lead on the pilot program and will collaborate with IOTAS and GlobeSherpa to deliver IoT authentication technologies.
“The collective vision of this team is to enable data sharing between everyday connected devices, while putting security and privacy first,” said Isaac Potoczny-Jones, founder of Tozny and principal investigator for the project at Galois.
The NSTIC program seeks to utilize those technologies to secure the storage and sharing of information via connected smart homes and transportation systems, Tozny added.
The company will also work with partners SRI International and 6 Degrees Consulting to address the areas of biometric authentication and privacy policy, respectively.
