Lockheed Martin and Sikorsky held an event Friday to formally mark their combination, a week after Lockheed closed its approximately $9 billion acquisition of the helicopter manufacturing business from United Technologies Corp.
“Today is the beginning of an exciting new period for our company,” Marillyn Hewson, Lockheed chairman, president and CEO, said Friday.
“Sikorsky’s strong reputation with military customers will help us secure and extend our business in the rotary-wing aircraft space,” she added.
Hewson also unveiled the new Sikorsky logo that combines the helicopter manufacturer’s name with the Lockheed star symbol.
The celebration took place in Stratford, Connecticut, and was attended by more than 2,000 Lockheed and Sikorsky executives and employees.
