Alex Rossino, a senior principal research analyst at Deltek, reports that information security policies and management programs in the federal government are driving agencies to invest in cloud computing and big data technologies.
He wrote in a blog article published Tuesday the market research company has forecast that federal agencies will collectively increase their spending on cloud computing services from $2.4 billion during fiscal 2015 to $6.2 billion by fiscal 2020.
Federal market demand for core big data platforms is projected to hit $3.2 billion at the end of FY 2020, up from the approximately $1.6 billion of governmentwide big data investments over the past FY.
Rossino cited the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program, cybersecurity and the National Strategic Computing Initiative as among the governmental efforts that will drive big data and cloud technology procurements in the sector.
