Gene Colabatistto, president of CAE‘s defense and security group, expects the training and simulation industry to see further consolidation as he observed many companies seeking to align their product portfolios, he told Defense News in an interview published Saturday.
“I think you will see some companies trying to vertically integrate in order to be a full-services provider, and then you will see some divest themselves of pieces they don’t need,” Colabatistto told Defense News reporter Aaron Mehta.
He has also noted a seismic shift in military organizations’ attitudes toward the use of simulation technology and that the U.S. Air Force appears to have the most complete concept of developing a virtual flag combat exercise among all the country’s four service branches.
He believes industry has the potential to build gaming technology that can support simulation of ad hoc missions.
However, differences in network and security management strategies could make it harder for simulation and training professionals to manage ad hoc sessions, according to Colabatistto.
