A Research and Markets report forecasts that big data in government and defense market will grow 30 percent year-over-year through 2020.
The research firm said Tuesday the growth will be driven by the emergence of data management technologies such as NoSQL database and Hadoop MapReduce platforms.
The government and defense industry accounts for approximately 7 percent of global big data market revenue and is projected to hold a significant market share by 2020, the report states.
Research and Markets also cited high investment costs, novelty and lack of awareness as challenges for new big data market entrants.
Vendors mentioned in the report include TEG Analytics, Heckyl Technologies, KloudData, Gramener, Germin8, VIS Networks, Abzooba, Fintellix, Latentview, Indix, Analytic-Edge and Tookitaki.
