Raytheon has completed the deployment of a weather data tool at over 140 offices of the U.S. National Weather Service across the country and several territories.
The Advanced Weather Interactive Processing System II has visualization and data analysis tools that work to help forecasters predict the weather, Raytheon said Thursday.
“The development and rollout of AWIPS II builds on Raytheon’s 10 year partnership with the NWS to maintain and operate the weather predicting capabilities that are so critical to commerce, safety and quality of life across the country,” said Dave Wajsgras, president of intelligence, information and services at Raytheon.
AWIPS II works to monitor weather patterns through data generated by the company’s Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite space-based instrument.
