D-Wave Systems will install new quantum computing systems at NASA‘s Ames Research Center in California in support of the space agency’s research partnership with Google and the Universities Space Research Association.
D-Wave said Monday its D-Wave 2X technology works to support the NASA-Google-USRAÂ team’s efforts to study the impact of quantum computing on artificial intelligence and machine learning.
“[Quantum] computing and quantum algorithms may someday dramatically improve our ability to solve difficult optimization problems for missions in aeronautics, Earth and space sciences, and space exploration,” said Eugene Tu, Ames Center director.
“The availability of increasingly more powerful quantum systems are key to achieving these goals.”
D-Wave will install the D-Wave 2X system with processors that operate at more than 1,000 qubits at NASA Ames’ Quantum Artificial Intelligence Lab.
