Lockheed Martin‘s Viper variant of the F-16 fighter jet has completed its first flight while equipped with Northrop Grumman‘s APG-83 active electronically scanned array Scalable Agile Beam Radar.
Lockheed said Wednesday the F-16V features a common global sustainment infrastructure and an updated cockpit center pedestal display, mission computer and Ethernet data bus.
Northrop’s APG-83 SABR AESA avionics works to provide air-to-air and air-to-ground radar function to the latest F-16 configuration.
Lockheed noted the Viper is the first F-16 to carry APG-83 SABR.
