Lockheed Martin has been selected to build targeting pods for the Netherlands air force’s fleet of F-16 aircraft.
The company will produce 29 sniper targeting pods and perform training and maintenance services under the contract, the company said Monday.
“Expedited delivery will enable the Royal Netherlands Air Force to rapidly deploy Sniper ATP to support current mission requirements,” said Rich Lovette, director of Sniper international programs at Lockheed Martin.
The company will deliver the pods in the first quarter of 2016 and conduct depot repairs at the Warner Robins Air Logistics Complex.
The targeting pods work to detect and designate targets from a distance.
