The U.S. Army plans to hold a competition for the Distributed Common Ground System-Army Increment 2 as part of its efforts to update the system.
The DCGS-A system is designed to allow uniformed personnel to collect, process and share intelligence through data derived from radio intercepts, infrared images, videos, maritime signals and other sources, Lockheed Martin said Monday.
The service branch wants commercial platforms that will work to provide data fusion, cyber and predictive analytics capabilities for the second increment of the DCGS-A program.
Jerry Mamrol, director of Army strategic and tactical systems at Lockheed, said the company will leverage its intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance experience to build a platform for the next phase of the DCGS-A program.
The DCGS-A platform has the DCGS Integration Backbone, a Lockheed-built software gateway that works to facilitate information sharing across service branches and federal agencies.
