Iron Mountain will open a new center Tuesday that will store government records for federal agencies that seek to comply with policies to reduce their physical footprints.
Rep. Barbara Comstock (R-Va.) is scheduled to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony at the federal records facility in Sterling, Virginia, Iron Mountain said Wednesday.
“A well-managed offsite records management program creates more efficiency for federal agencies both in terms of cost and compliance, while ensuring information is secure and protected,†said Ernest Cloutier, executive vice president of U.S. federal, security and legal at Iron Mountain.
The company built the 500,000-cubic-foot center to comply Code of Federal Regulations and will records space for lease by agencies.
Iron Mountain says the lease is available to agencies as either a self-managed option or fully managed service.
Iron Mountain plans to unveil two more records storage facilities in the Midwest and Northeast this year.
