Cubic‘s global defense segment has been awarded a contract to build a live, virtual and constructive tool for the Air Force Research Laboratory’s 711th Human Performance Wing.
Cubic said Thursday it will perform contract work on the LVC system intended for airborne combat training under the Secure LVC Advanced Training Environment Advanced Technology Demonstration program.
AFRL’s SLATE ATD is a consortium consists of industry and government agencies and aims to assess the technological feasibility of LVC ground and aerial subsystems.
The LVC system will work to “provide an increased threat density, wider expanse of virtual airspace and an interoperable multi-level secure environment where pilots can ‘train as they fight’ with their advanced sensor and weapons systems in the highest fidelity environments,†said Bill Toti, president of Cubic’s global defense segment.
Cubic will collaborate with SLATE ATD consortium members to produce a technology readiness level seven system prototype.
The company said it expects to carry out a final flight demonstration of the LVC system at Nevada-based Nellis Air Force Base.
