Booz Allen Hamilton and the Florida Center for Cybersecurity hosted a cybersecurity breach simulation exercise for more than 60 senior public- and private-sector leaders at the University of South Florida on Oct. 13.
The partners said Tuesday the exercise sought to highlight the relevance of cybersecurity to C-level and boardroom executives and efforts to bolster internal communications and cross-sector coordination in support of cyber efforts.
“These exercises are invaluable for senior executives because they not only simulate the multifaceted, complex dimensions of a cybersecurity crisis but also the unprecedented speed at which these incidents occur,” said Mike McConnell, a senior executive adviser to Booz Allen and a former national intelligence director.
Booz Allen and FC2 also noted that the war game demonstrated how organizations must go beyond planning and establish a cyber threat response plan and crisis communications strategy, as well as engage all stakeholders and leverage their expertise and resources.
Ron Sanders, a vice president at Booz Allen, helped facilitate the invite-only exercise.
