cloud computingAmazon Web Services and Accenture have teamed up to establish a new business group that will work to help commercial firms migrate and manage their data workloads and applications onto the AWS Cloud platform.

The Accenture AWS Business Group will also provide services for enterprise clients, such as application migration and development, refactoring, architecture and organizational design and cloud strategy, Accenture said Oct. 7.

AWS and Accenture also plan to develop platforms and services related to big data and analytics, create new services in the field of cloud-based security and Internet of Things and incorporate AWS analytics functions into the Accenture Insights Platform.

The new business group aims to help companies “focus on adopting new IT operating models, addressing new market opportunities, and growing their business, at the same time they reduce their overall IT costs,” said Adam Selipsky, vice president of sales, marketing and support at AWS.

Both businesses will also back go-to-market operations, certify 500 Accenture employees on the AWS Cloud and provide training to additional 1,000 Accenture personnel during the business group’s first year.
