A joint venture of Thales Group and Raytheon has been awarded a contract to supply mobile radar systems to Latvia’s armed forces.
ThalesRaytheonSystems said Wednesday it will deliver four Improved Sentinel AN/MPQ-64 F1 radars to Latvia.
Sentinel is a mobile, three-dimensional radar system intended for missile system coordination, infrastructure protection and airborne surveillance operations.
The phased-array radar platform also runs on the X-band frequency and is designed to work with the National Advanced Surface to Air Missile Systems.
Latvia’s armed forces will use the Sentinel radars to help detect and monitor unmanned aerial systems, cruise missiles and other airborne threats.
