Lockheed Martin has rolled out the first F-35A fighter jet for Norway’s military during a ceremony held in Fort Worth, Texas.
Marillyn Hewson, Lockheed chairman, president and CEO, said Tuesday the F-35A seeks to “provide the strength†Norway needs to address threats in the north.
“It is the only aircraft with adequate range, persistence, sensors and advanced communications to guarantee surveillance and defense of the high north against surface and airborne threats,†added Hewson.
Lockheed is set to deliver the first and second F-35A to Norway’s air force in late 2015.
Training for Norwegian and partner country pilots will take place at the Luke Air Force Base in Arizona.
