L-3 Communications has received a $11.9 million contract from Science and Engineering Services to update the communications system for the U.S. Army’s Apache helicopter.
The company will apply its MUMT-X technology to the Apache program for crews to transmit and receive wideband video and data, L-3 said Thursday.
L-3 plans to complete the task by August 2017.
“We are very pleased to have the opportunity to work with the U.S. Army to provide Apache crews with a superior in-theater communications capability that will give them an important tactical advantage,†said John Mega, president of communications at L-3.
MUMT-X comprises a ROVER 6 modem, multiband radio frequency tool and directional antenna for transmitting video streams to the command center.
