An L-3 Communications subsidiary has been awarded a one-year, $160.2 million contract modification to perform support work on 200 T-45 trainer jets at multiple naval air stations in the U.S.
The Defense Department said Tuesday that L-3 Communications Vertex Aerospace will provide organizational, intermediate, logistics and depot-level maintenance services for the U.S. Navy‘s aviation training fleet.
The military service will obligate funds per each delivery order and L-3 Vertex will perform work at naval air bases in Mississippi, Texas, Florida and Maryland.
L-3 said the logistics portion of contract work includes sustaining engineering, parts and materials acquisition and supply and government property management services.
A BAE Systems–Boeing alliance designed and built the T-45 aircraft as a replacement for the Navy’s TA-4J and T-2C aircrew training platforms.
