Iridium Communications and MiX Telematics have partnered to demonstrate global satellite communications coverage at the Bauma Conexpo Africa trade fair scheduled this week in South Africa.
MiX Telematics said Monday the partnership works to expand its fleet and mobile asset management offering from terrestrial to satellite systems.
“[Fleet] managers will be able to track and manage their valuable assets and personnel regardless of their location, including remote and rural areas,” said Bryan Hartin, executive vice president of sales and marketing at Iridium.
He added that the business relationship supports Iridium’s efforts in the global machine-to-machine market.
Catherine Lewis, executive vice president of technology at MiX Telematics, noted that the global satellite coverage also helps extend support for exception notifications and vehicle status updates at any location.
