Boeing has inaugurated a new research and technology center in South Carolina intended to further the company’s advanced manufacturing push.
The 104,000-square-foot Boeing Research and Technology-South Carolina Center is designed to focus on the manufacture of composite fuselage and propulsion systems, Boeing said Thursday.
John Tracy, Boeing chief technology officer and senior vice president of engineering, operations and technology, said the company aims for the research center to fulfill the needs of customers through relevant technology.
Scientists and engineers will have access to the center’s laboratory spaces to conduct studies in advanced production systems, nondestructive tests, production analytics, electromagnetic effects, chemical technology and composite materials.
Boeing broke ground for the facility in 2014.
