A Textron subsidiary has been awarded a $56.2 million contract to build and deliver 55 more armored personnel carriers to Afghanistan through the U.S. Army‘s foreign military sales program.
Textron Systems Marine & Land Systems is scheduled to deliver Commando Select APC vehicles for the Afghan National Army through February 2016.
The contract covers production of four ambulance vehicles and 51 carriers equipped with 40mm/.50 caliber turrets and gunner protection kits.
Textron’s Commando family of four-wheeled armored vehicles is designed with a firepower system and built to provide on-road and off-road mobile protection to soldiers.
The company has provided more than 630 personnel carriers to the Afghan military since 2012.
