A new TechServe Alliance report has found that U.S. companies employed 193,300 new information technology workers and created 15,000 new engineering jobs since July 2014.
Employment in the IT field grew by 0.3 percent to 4,959,500 workers in July 2015, the Virginia-based trade association said Wednesday.
The U.S. engineering workforce rose by at least 0.1 percent to 2,525,000 last month.
“With IT employment continuing to grow steadily on a month-over-month basis, we are fast approaching 5 million workers employed in IT in the U.S.,†said Mark Roberts, CEO of TechServe Alliance.
“While IT employment remains a bright spot, engineering employment growth remains modest.â€
The report also showed the number of IT and engineering jobs created in July 2015 across sectors such as computer systems and design services, technical and management services, professional services, data processing and hosting, and federal, state and local government.
