The U.S. Navy has awarded Northrop Grumman a $38.5 million contract to integrate mine warfare mission packages with the service branch’s littoral combat ships.
The mission packages will work to support the LCS’ anti-submarine, surface warfare and mine countermeasure operations, the Defense Department said Friday.
The sole-source, cost-plus-fixed-fee contract could reach $78 million in total value once the service exercises all options, DoD added.
Northrop will perform work in New York, California, Washington, D.C., Florida, Virginia, Maryland, Massachusetts and Rhode Island through July 2016.
The Naval Sea Systems Command is obligating $6.9 million from the Navy’s fiscal 2013, 2014 and 2015 contract funds at the time of award.
